Term 2, Week 9

Science Superstars!

Congratulations to Olivia B and Jessica who won the 'Science Superstars' presentations in Room 14! Olivia and Jessica presented their experiments and reports in front of all the Year 2 classes and did a fabulous job. Well done, girls. Thank you again to all Room 14 parents for assisting your child in their research and helping them put together fantastic presentations. You have helped to spark interest in Science for you child and have encouraged them to become actively involved in whole-school activities. It great to have such supportive and involved parents- we can't thank you all enough!

Morning Fitness

During our Morning Fitness this term, we had been focusing on our throwing and catching skills. Morning Fitness is an important part of each child's health and physical activity. We encourage all children to take part in each fitness activity. Here are some photos of Room 14 taking part in throwing and catching activities each morning.

What's Been Happening In Room 14 This Term...

Maths: Learning all about counting collections of money...

Maths: Looking at nets and building 3D objects..

Science: we have been discussing, questioning and learning all about the stages of the Water Cycle...

Our experiment when learning about the Water Cycle: condensation.

Guided Reading: during our Guided Reading sessions, we have been focusing on our individual reading goals.

Computer Skills

During the upcoming school holidays, we encourage parents to allow their child some time to improve their basic computer skills. Although many students are competent in using tablets with touch screen keyboards, it is important that they continue to use computer keyboards to become competent in typing. We have been beginning to improve our computer and typing skills in the classroom. This will continue to be a focus throughout the year.

Some ideas for practising typing skills at home:

  • Using a Microsoft Word document to write about themselves, write a story or retell of something they have done, an event they have been to etc.
  • Free online typing games:
