What's New?

It sure has been a busy one so far this term! We are so pleased with how hard everyone is working in class. Room 14 have had a very "Sciency" few weeks, with learning all about Physical Sciences in the classroom AND out of the classroom on our exciting excursion to Scitech! We have also had our Super Scientist presentations and assembly last week. During class, we have been learning Literacy concepts such as suffixes, prefixes and similes. We would love to start seeing these new concepts used throughout everyone's writing soon! During Maths, Room 14 have been learning all about telling time the quarter hour, division and practising our 3 times tables! We are super impressed with how quickly everyone is picking up this new learning- well done, Room 14! With plenty of more exciting learning coming ahead, we have also been involved in our dancing lessons and have swimming lessons coming up too! I'm sure the rest of the year is going to fly by!

Super Scientist Presentations

Everyone did such a great job at presenting their Science experiments and talks last week. Ms Peake and I were very happy with how much effort was put into these presentations. Thank you parents and siblings at home who might have helped with any preparation! It was a fabulous effort by all.

Learning all about Physical Sciences
This term's Science focus was based on different types of forces. In this lesson we are learning all about gravity and why gravity is needed on Earth. Here we are using a ball of playdough to test what happens when we use different forces with it such as, pushing and pulling.

Scitech Excursion!
Last week on Wednesday, all of the Year 2 classes headed off to Scitech! This was a VERY exciting day for everyone. We watched a funny show present by one of the Scitech workers that was all about different chemical reactions. It was very funny and entertaining. Then, we had some free time to explore all of the awesome stations that were based on using different forces. We learnt more about pushing and pulling forces, magnetic forces, air pressure and water pressure. After such an exciting day, we headed back to school and discussed what we had learnt on our big excursion. It turned out to be a great day which ran smoothly. A HUGE thank you to our parent helpers who assisted with supervising our student groups on the day, Somy, Jacinta and Kristie. You were all a fantastic help!

Dancing Lessons
Room 14 and 16 have been taking part in dance lessons these past few weeks. They have been learning many dances already and are already practising their big dance for the end of year concert! It is so great to see everyone taking part and having a go!

Art
The following students were selected to have their artwork displayed at the Perth Royal Show by Ms Randall. Congratulations!

Reminders:

Swimming notes have now been sent home. Please fill out the necessary details and return to school with money attached.

Family Fun Night will be a great night hosted by the school's P&C. We encourage students to bring in some donations for our Lucky Dip Prize at our stall. These can include small things such as, stationery (pencils, erasers), chocolate, lollies etc. If unsure, please see myself or Ms Peake & thank you for donating!

Thank you!
Miss Gerace :)
