What's happening in Science...

Seed Planting!

Room 14 have been very busy learning all about living things, including plants! On Friday afternoon last week, the students planted some bean seeds in cups, which we will be observing for the rest of the term. The children discussed what plants need in order to grow, and began to think like SCIENTISTS by asking enquiry questions and making predictions!

We decided that we will be focusing on an investigation question:

What will happen to the seeds if we do not give them any sunlight?

Following this discussion, we arranged to have one cup of seeds in our dark storeroom cupboard, so that we can observe what will happen to this seed compared to the others that will be exposed to sunlight. At the end of our investigation, we will be observing our plants and drawing conclusions on whether our predictions were correct or not, as well as comparing the growth of the plants.

The children were all highly engaged and enjoying their learning. This is sure to make for an interesting conversation with your child! Well done, Room 14!
